About Me
Those letters after my name on the home page mean that I have a Master's degree in counseling, state licensure in Missouri and national certification in counseling. I am both a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC, #2007031021) and a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC). Such credentialing ensures I have met all qualifications required by the Missouri Committee for Professional Counselors and the National Board for Certified Counselors. These boards, and other organizations in which I hold membership, ensure that you receive a qualified counselor with the highest ethical standards in counseling. Judy Koehler, LPC, LLC is a licensed legal corporation registered in the State of Missouri, as well.
Education
Cum Laude graduate with a Master of Arts – Counseling degree from Covenant Theological Seminary. When appropriate, my seminary background permits me to integrate a Christian-faith perspective into your therapy.
Magna Cum Laude graduate from the University of Missouri – St. Louis with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication. Emphasis in oral and interpersonal communication.
Life & Work Experience:
• A Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Missouri with national certification.
• Happily married since 1979 and mother of two wonderful daughters.
• 10 years experience as the Assistant to the Directors of a Christian counseling private practice & center.
• 15 years as primary caregiver of family members.
• 3 years experience working with older adults and the caregivers of a large, senior adult organization.
• 2 years as Congregational Care Coordinator for a large church.
• 1 year experience as a Contract Counselor with Lutheran Family & Children's Services, a United Way community
mental health agency. • Facilitator of a Care for the Caregiver Support group for Friendship Village Sunset Hills.
